PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric type steering column device, excellent in operation stability, which secures rigidity of a lower jacket and improves assemblability.SOLUTION: An upper jacket 3 is internally inserted slidably into a lower jacket 2, and a support bracket 24 is fixed to the upper jacket 3 through a mounting bolt 23. To the support bracket 24 is fitted a nut member, and a screw shaft to be screwed to the nut member is rotated and driven so as to carry out a telescopic action. To the upper jacket 3 is fixed a weld nut 18, and in the lower jacket 2 is formed a release part 20 which receives the weld nut 18 and allows the nut to pass through by enlarging a diameter of a part thereof and is formed a long hole 21.
