The disclosure concerns processes for the production of dimethyl carbonate comprising (i) refining crude oil to produce a stream comprising offgas; (ii) separating said stream comprising offgas to produce a stream enriched in ethylene and proplylene and a stream having reduced ethylene and propylene content; (iii) introducing said stream having reduced ethylene and propylene content to a gasifier so as to produce syngas comprising hydrogen and carbon monoxide; (iv) reacting at least a portion of said hydrogen and said carbon monoxide to produce methanol; and (v) reacting said methanol, said carbon monoxide and oxygen to produce dimethyl carbonate. |
