The invention relates to a discharge device (10) having an elastically deformable media container (20) for dispensing a pharmaceutical medium, and a removable cap (60). The cap (60) mechanically protects an outlet opening (42) of an outlet unit (40) and/or separates same in a fluid-tight or gas-tight manner with respect to the environment in the installed state thereof. The cap (60) comprises a shell extension (64) enclosing the media container (20) at least in segments, in order to prevent accidental compression of the media container (20) while the cap is in place. The shell extension extends over at least 50% of the length of the media container (20) with respect to an installation direction (1) of the cap, between the outlet unit (40) and an opposite end (26) of the media container (20).
