The present invention relates to a caramel buckwheat malt that is characterized in that it is prepared from buckwheat /Fagopyrum esculentum Moench/ or Tatarian buckwheat /Fagopyrum tataricum Gaertn/, wherein the buckwheat caramel malt contains at least 80 percent of extract and the color of the malt thereof exhibits at least 30 EB units. The invention further relates to a coloring buckwheat malt that is characterized in that it is prepared from buckwheat /Fagopyrum esculentum Moench/ or Tatarian buckwheat /Fagopyrum tataricum Gaertn/, whereby the buckwheat coloring malt has the color of malt wort, which exhibits at least 400 EBC units.
