1. An access point for wireless communications, comprising:
a processor configured to
select a value for a medium access parameter for each individual communication session between the access point and each of a plurality of wireless stations, the medium access parameter comprising at least one of a clear channel assessment threshold and a minimum duration for contention window backoff period, the value for each medium access parameter being selected based at least in part on a path loss between the access point and each of the plurality of wireless stations, selecting the value comprising:
select a first value for the medium access parameter for a first communication session between the access point and a first wireless station within the plurality of wireless stations, andselect a second value for the medium access parameter for a second communication session between the access point and a second wireless station within the plurality of wireless stations, the first value being different from the second value, wherein the processor is configured to select a lower value for the clear channel assessment threshold based at least on determining whether the access point is increasing a transmission power level; and a transceiver configured to communicate with each of the plurality of wireless stations using the selected value for the medium access parameter for each individual communication session. |
