The present invention relates to a method for proliferating neural progenitor cells and a composition for treating nerve disorders containing proliferated neural progenitor cells. It was verified that, when fetal neural progenitor cells are cultured in a medium containing tocoperol, tocoperol acetate, or a mixture thereof and/or under hypoxia conditions, the cell proliferation rate was increased. In addition, the present invention has an effect of preventing the differentiation into nerve cells at the time of proliferation, contributing to mass production of nerve stem cells, and thus the proliferated cells are expected to be utilized in the treatment of nerve disorders.
