METHOD AND DEVICE FOR OPERATING AN INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE

An internal combustion engine has a plurality of cylinders which are assigned in each case one injection valve and which are in each case assigned to a common exhaust gas probe which is arranged in an exhaust gas section in or upstream of an exhaust gas catalytic converter. Furthermore, the internal combustion engine is assigned a crankshaft angle sensor, the measured signal of which is representative of a profile of a crankshaft angle of a crankshaft. In a predefined operating state, a predefined torque deviation from the remaining cylinders is predefined for in each case one of the cylinders, and the respective injection valve is actuated to this end. In this context, a profile characteristic value which is assigned to the respective cylinder is determined in each case in a manner which is dependent on the measured signal of the crankshaft angle sensor in a predefined subrange of the respective segment range. The respective segment range is an angle range which is assigned to the respective cylinder during a work cycle, the magnitude of which angle range corresponds to the crankshaft angle range of one work cycle divided by the number of cylinders. In a manner which is dependent on the profile characteristic values which are assigned to the respective cylinders, respective actuating signals for actuating the injection valves are adapted in the sense of an adaptation of an air/fuel ratio in the individual cylinders if the predefined torque deviation is predefined for none of the cylinders.
