PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide compositions and methods for vaccinating against HSV-2.SOLUTION: This invention relates to methods for systemic immune activation which are effective for eliciting both a systemic, non-antigen specific immune response and a strong antigen-specific immune response in mammals.
