A computer of the present invention runs an OS, and is provided with a processor, a memory device, and an I/O adapter. The I/O adapter uses a plurality of queues to execute a plurality of I/O processes in parallel. The computer is provided with an I/O adapter driver, and holds shared sequence information that stores a plurality of data items associating definition information of a shared method, the number of vectors, and the number of queues. The shared method is a control method for reducing the number of vectors to be set in the computer. The I/O adapter driver references the shared sequence information to select data that includes definition information corresponding to a shared method in which the number of vectors is no greater than the number that can be secured by the OS, and the I/O adapter driver makes a request to the OS to secure vectors on the basis of the selected data. If the OS successfully secures the vectors, the I/O adapter driver sets a plurality of vectors and a plurality of queues, on the basis of the selected data, and generates association information for managing associations among vector, queue, and interrupt factors. |
