765,322. Closure cap gaskets. OWENSILLINOIS GLASS CO. Feb. 21, 1955, No. 5077/55. Drawings to Specification. Class 125(3). A rubber gasket for a metal closure cap is coated with an electrically insulating material such as a mixture of oil and wax chosen from such substances as paraffin wax, microcrystalline wax, mineral oil, soya bean oil, cotton seed oil or beeswax, carnauba wax, spermaceti, palm wax, ozokerite, montan wax, ceresin wax, lignite wax, cocoanut oil, linseed oil, castor oil, olive oil and palm oil. After dipping or spraying with the composition the gaskets are heated, while being continuously agitated, until the composition has permeated the gasket and excess is evaporated. Satisfactory proportions are for example 20 per cent paraffin wax, 80 per cent mineral oil. The gasket is said to inhibit corrosion of the metal cap by preventing electrolytic action.
|
