PURPOSE:To make sure of the development of solidified shell behind completing point of squeezing and to prevent penetration of molten steel into joint part by making a material having high heat conductivity in the range below the completing point of the squeezing of a refractory in side plate at the short side. CONSTITUTION:The refractory 10 in the side plate at the short side is constituted by assembling the refractory layer 10a arranged as extending to below the completing point P of the squeezing on the surface contacting with the molten metal and having high heat conductivity and excellent corrosion resistance, spalling resistance and wear resistance and the refractory layer 10b arranged on back face of the upper range of the completing point P of the squeezing in this refractory layer 10a. Further, the refractory layer having high heat conductivity is arranged at the front face and the refractory having excellent heat insulating property is arranged at the necessary part to heat insulation with a copper plate, that is, at back face of the upper part from the completing point P of the squeezing. |
