A computer implemented method includes accessing a list containing one or more items for purchase. The method further includes receiving a vehicle location. The method also includes searching for one or more stores within a predefined distance of the vehicle location, which sell at least one item from the list, and the prices those stores offer. Additionally, the method includes recommending a stop at at least one of the one or more stores, and providing directions to a store for which a stop was recommended.

1. A computer-implemented method comprising:
receiving a desired route end-time; calculating time remaining until the end-time once a vehicle is within a predetermined distance-to-destination; searching, once the vehicle is within the predetermined distance-to-destination, for a store selling an item from a stored shopping list; estimating travel-time to the store; and recommending a detour to the store, based on the travel-time to the store and subsequent travel to a destination being less than the time remaining.
