PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a radio wave receiving device that can optimize electric power consumption according to the state of radio waves transmitted from positioning satellites, and an electronic timepiece.SOLUTION: A radio wave receiving device is equipped with signal amplifying means that receives radio waves transmitted from positioning satellites and amplifies received signals; capturing means that captures satellite signals from the amplified signals; information acquiring means that acquires prescribed information from the captured satellite signals; and gain setting means that determines the reception state of transmitted radio waves on the basis of processing situation in at least the capturing means or the information acquiring means or both and sets an action pertaining to the gain of the signal amplifying means according to the determined reception state. The gain setting means so sets the action that the gain at the gain setting at the time of determination that the reception state is a first reception state is smaller than the gain at the gain setting at the time of determination that the reception state is a second reception state.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6
