PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a halogen secondary battery using a compound including a halide ion or halide ion is used as a charge carrier serving to transport an electric charge between positive and negative electrodes disposed in the secondary battery.SOLUTION: A halogen secondary battery comprises: an anionic Lewis acid derivative expressed by the formula (1); an electrolyte including a halide having a halide ion and a solvent; a positive electrode; and a negative electrode. In an electrochemical reaction during discharge, the halide ion or the halide is emitted from the positive electrode and accepted into the negative electrode.
