PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: a terahertz band electromagnetic wave oscillating device which can efficiently exhaust a generated heat; and a terahertz band electromagnetic wave oscillating apparatus.SOLUTION: A terahertz band electromagnetic wave oscillating device of the present invention comprises: a single crystal of superconductor formed on a substrate and having a mesa structure of multilayer type Josephson junctions arranged so that terahertz band electromagnetic waves can be emitted by the Josephson junctions oscillating harmoniously while utilizing AC Josephson effect, of which the geometry is a mesa form to the substrate; and heat-exhausting means for exhausting heat of the single crystal from at least a face on the side opposite to the substrate.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
