PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an authentication system for which any unique operation such as a gesture is not required.SOLUTION: An authentication system 100 includes a portable terminal 200 and electronic equipment 300 which can wirelessly communicate with each other. The portable terminal 200 includes an operation detection part for detecting the operation of the portable terminal 200. Also, the portable terminal 200 holds first authentication information. The electronic equipment 300 holds second authentication information to be used for user authentication. The electronic equipment 300 requests the transmission of movement information from the portable terminal 200. The portable terminal 200 transmits the movement information corresponding to the output of the operation detection part. The electronic equipment 300 requests the transmission of the first authentication information in accordance with the movement information transmitted from the portable terminal 200. The portable terminal 200 transmits the first authentication information. The electronic equipment 300 determines whether or not second authentication information corresponding to the first authentication information transmitted from the portable terminal 200 is held, and performs authentication on the basis of the result of determination.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
