TUNDISH POSITION CONTROL APPARATUS AND METHOD

An embodiment of the present invention relates to an apparatus and a method to control a tundish position. The apparatus of the present invention comprises: a tundish to store molten metal inside; a cooling roll placed on a bottom of the tundish to cool the molten metal discharged from the tundish; and a control unit to elevate the tundish and control a position of the tundish. The control unit makes a falling speed of the tundish in a second section, where a distance between the tundish and the cooling roll is smaller than a specific value, lower than a rising speed of the tundish in a first section, where the distance between the tundish and the cooling roll is greater than a specific value; and controls a position of the tundish. Accordingly, since the apparatus to control the position of the tundish divides the section into a precise control section and a non-precise control section, and makes the moving speed of the tundish in the non-precise control section higher; a time to prepare a casting can be reduced, and can intensively perform a precise control in the precise control section.
