Provided is a damping material formulation with which it is possible to actualize exceptional damping properties over a wide temperature range and also to inexpensively obtain a damping material having an exceptional external appearance. The present invention is a resin composition for a damping material including lignins and/or lignin derivatives. The present invention is also a damping material formulation including this resin composition for a damping material and an inorganic pigment. The present invention is also a damping material obtained using this damping material formulation.
