PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance resistance to missing of source symbols constituting content data when transmitting the content data.SOLUTION: A symbol division unit 41 in a distribution server 4 divides a segment file to generate a plurality of source symbols. An important symbol determination unit 43 determines the degree of importance in restoring the segment file if another source symbol is lost during transmission for each of the generated source symbols. An important symbol complement unit 45 selects source symbols according to the order of importance determined by the important symbol determination unit 43. A transmission unit 50 transmits the generated source symbols and also transmits the source symbols selected by the important symbol complement unit 45.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
