A method (100) for managing a resource in a communication network is disclosed, the communication network comprising a plurality of communication links and providing communication services over a geographic coverage area. The method comprises receiving a prediction of weather phenomena to occur in at least a portion of the coverage area of the network (110), determining an impact of the predicted weather phenomena on usage of the resource on communication links in the network (120),and adjusting resource usage on communication links in the network according to the determined impact (130). The network may be a wireless network, such as a microwave network or a free space optic network,and the resource may be bandwidth. Also disclosed are a computer program product and management element (500) configured to conduct a method for managing a resource in a communication network. |
