The present invention provides a positive electrode active material and a manufacturing method thereof. The positive electrode active material includes: a lithium transition metal oxide particle; and one or more types of conductive oxide particles on a surface of the lithium transition metal oxide particle. According to one embodiment of the present invention, the positive electrode active material includes the lithium transition metal oxide particle and the certain conductive oxide particles having a single phase, thereby having excellent electronic conductivity as well as an excellent ion transfer ability such that a metal ion like a lithium ion is transferred to the lithium transition metal oxide particle. Therefore, a capacity reduction and an output reduction of a secondary battery can be minimized.
