The purpose of the present invention is to provide an esophageal catheter by which, in an ablation treatment of the left atrium, overheating of the esophagus can be surely avoided without suspending or stopping the treatment. The esophageal catheter according to the present invention, which is a catheter to be inserted into the esophagus in an ablation treatment of the left atrium, comprises a catheter shaft (10) provided with a front deformable part (15), a front tip (20) fixed to the front end of the catheter shaft (10), and an operating wire (30) which extends inside the catheter shaft (10) with intermittently changing the position in the radial direction of the catheter shaft (10) inside the front deformable part (15) to thereby deform the front deformable part (15) and the back end of which is operable by pulling, wherein, by operating the operating wire (30) by pulling, a part of the front deformable part (15) is displaced in the radial direction of the catheter shaft (10) so that the esophagus can be moved by pressing the inner wall of the esophagus. |
