The method involves carrying out a washing program with a washing phase and a rinsing phase for treating a laundry (8) with a washing liquid (3) in a tub (2) of a washing machine (1), during one of the washing and rinsing phases. An inlet device (11) having an inlet pump (11a) and an inlet pipe (11b) is activated for conveying the washing liquid by the inlet pump from one region to other region of the tub by the inlet pipe, such that a flow volume of the conveyed washing liquid is varied according to the variation of a rotational speed of the inlet pump.
