An electrosurgical apparatus comprising an electrosurgical instrument 304 for delivering RF energy and/or microwave frequency energy into biological tissue and an interface cable 104 for conveying radiofrequency (RF) and/or microwave frequency energy between an electrosurgical generator and the electrosurgical instrument, wherein a sterile barrier sheath 302 surrounds a connection interface between the instrument and interface cable. The sterile barrier sheath 302 and instrument 304 may be a sterilisable unit suitable for repeated use. The sterile barrier sheath may be detachable mounted on a collar around the connector.
