A needle cam 7 and/or other butt-actuating implement of a knitting-machine is controlled from a cam drum through Bowden cable 25. The cable is secured to a stepped plunger 22 which influences a lever 18 to withdraw or permit the insertion of the cam 7. By providing the plunger with steps to adjust the cam to various needle actuating positions any slight deviation in the length of the cable due to it stretching does not affect the positioning of the cam.
