PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To more effectively perform various kinds of backlight control in a backlight device in which a plurality of light source blocks are provided and light emission can be controlled independently in each of the light source blocks.SOLUTION: A backlight device includes: a plurality of light sources; and a plurality of driving means for driving the light sources. To each of the driving means, a plurality of light sources are connected. Each of the driving means drives the plurality of light sources connected thereto by the same driving signal, so that light emission is controlled in the unit of the light source block constituted of the plurality of light sources connected to the same driving means. The backlight device further includes: a plurality of switches for changing connection between the driving means and the light sources, connection between the plurality of light sources connected to the driving means, connection between the light sources and an electric power supply for supplying electric power to the light sources; and control means that changes the driving means to which at least a part of the light sources among the plurality of light sources is connected and changes the shape of the light source blocks constituted of the light sources connected to each of the driving means. |
