Method and apparatus for wireless distributed computing

Systems and methods for distributed computing between communication devices. A femto node is treated as a trusted extension of a user equipment and performs processing tasks on behalf of the user equipment. The femto node is also treated as a trusted extension of network servers and performs services on behalf of the network servers. Tasks are thus distributed between the network servers, the femto node and one or more user equipments. The tasks include processing data, filtering incoming messages, and caching network service information.

1. A method of communication, the method comprising:
determining, by an apparatus: one or more processing tasks related to wireless communications to be performed at the apparatus to be offloaded to an access point, and a resource savings value associated with offloading the one or more processing tasks; generating a first communication comprising an indication of the one or more processing tasks; transmitting the first communication to the access point; and receiving a second communication from the access point, the second communication comprising an indication of a result of the one or more processing tasks.
