an intermediate transfer belt that is stretched by a plurality of rollers, the intermediate transfer belt transporting a toner image on an outer peripheral surface; a second transfer member that performs second transfer, the second transfer transferring the toner image on the intermediate transfer belt to a recording medium; an opposed member that abuts against an inner peripheral surface of the intermediate transfer belt, the opposed member being opposed to the second transfer member; and a changing section that changes a contact length between the intermediate transfer belt and the second transfer member at a second transfer position by changing a position of the opposed member, on a basis of paper attribute information of the recording medium, the second transfer position being a position where the second transfer member abuts against the opposed member with the intermediate transfer belt being sandwiched between the second transfer member and the opposed member, wherein the opposed member is in contact with the second transfer member via the intermediate transfer belt.
