PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a core/shell type catalyst having higher catalyst activity and better catalyst properties.SOLUTION: A core/shell type catalyst comprises a core particle 11 composed of a first transition metal, and a shell layer 12 composed of a second transition metal different from the first transition metal and covering the core particle 11, where the surface of the shell layer 12 comprises a facet surface that is smooth at an atom level corresponding to {111} surface in a face-centered cubic lattice structure, and a facet surface having irregularities at an atom level.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
