PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stabilize scan processing performed by a magnetic head.SOLUTION: In a printer apparatus 10, a magnetic head 38 scans a target medium while pressing the target medium against a lower surface of a partition plate 18 and implements processing for reading magnetic data. The partition plate 18 is made of rubber or the lower surface of the partition plate 18 is surface-textured, or the partition plate 18 is made of rubber and the lower surface of the partition plate 18 is surface-textured. The magnetic head 38 scans the target medium from a "scan starting point" to an end portion of the target medium while a central portion of the target medium except for end portions thereof is assumed as the scan starting point.
