This head-up display device projects images onto a projection member, to produce a virtual display of images which are visible to the crew. This head-up display device is provided with: a light source unit (10) for projecting light from a light source; a screen member (20) having a diffusion unit (22) that is inclined with respect to a hypothetical reference line (DL) corresponding to the center of the image and extending in the direction of projection of the light from the light source, the diffusion unit (22) diffusing the light from the light source; and a light-transmissive optical element (40) that has a first optical surface (42) exposed to the light source unit side and a second optical surface (44) exposed to the diffusion unit side, the light-transmissive optical element (40) transmitting the light from the light source. The distance between the first optical surface and the second optical surface changes so as to increase going from the side at which the diffusion unit is closer to the light source unit, to the side at which the diffusion unit is farther away. |
