<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device that adjusts display according to ambient brightness. <P>SOLUTION: A digital photo frame 100 displays an image on a display part 108. A display surface side of the display part 108 is imaged from the digital photo frame 100 by an imaging part 114, and a main CPU 102 specifies a position of a person on the basis of the image. When the person is separated from the digital photo frame 100, the brightness of the display part 108 is adjusted on the basis of an output value of an illuminance sensor 122 that has measured ambient brightness. On the other hand, when the person is located close to the digital photo frame 100, there is a high possibility that a shadow of the person extends over the illuminance sensor 122. Therefore, the brightness adjustment on the basis of the output value of the illuminance sensor 122 is not performed.
