<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain information which is useful to grasp whether a safe drive is being made by a driver at an intersection etc., on a road. <P>SOLUTION: Based upon contents of image data in time series obtained by photographing a subject on a road etc., in front of or behind a local vehicle in the traveling direction by an on-vehicle camera, whether there is a traffic sign displayed on a road surface of the road and the kind of the traffic sign are recognized, and when the traffic sign is recognized, a travel state such as the speed of the local vehicle is monitored. Based upon the kind of the traffic sign and the travel state of the local vehicle, whether the importance of the state is high or low is automatically discriminated, and the discriminated high/low level of the importance of the state is reflected on recording control over information including the image data. An important image etc., with which it can be confirmed whether a driver does not follow the contents of the traffic sign and makes a violation against a temporary stop etc., can be automatically recorded. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
