The present invention relates to a mobile terminal and a control method thereof. According to the present invention, the mobile terminal comprises: a body having front and rear sides; a display unit placed on the front side; a cover of which at least a portion is formed to cover the front or rear side; a window unit installed on the cover to expose at least a portion of the display unit while the cover covers the front side, and to expose at least a part of the rear side while the cover covers the rear side; and a sensor unit comprising at least one sensor installed on an edge of the window unit. The sensor unit is configured to sense a user motion in an inner window unit when the cover covers the rear side. One purpose of the present invention is to offer the mobile terminal to allow a user to easily and conveniently select and execute a function of the mobile device.
