The present invention relates to a propulsion apparatus for a ship, which comprises: a double inversion propeller which comprises a rear propeller combined with an internal axis and a front propeller combined with an external axis; and a seal unit for sealing the part between the ship body and the external axis or between the internal axis and the external axis from the outside and for having one or more sealing spaces. The seal unit comprises: a liner fixing unit fixated on the ship body or the external axis; one or more seal liners whose top side is fixated on the liner fixing unit and which is in the shape of L; a liner contact unit facing the liner fixing unit to contact the bottom end of the seal liner; and a sealing medium penetrating line for penetrating the liner contact unit. The sealing medium penetrating line has one side connected to the sealing space and the other side connected to the outside by being placed higher than the thickness in the diameter direction of the liner contact unit on one end in the diameter direction of the liner contact. According to the present invention, the propulsion apparatus for a ship of the present invention comprises a seal unit placed in between the ship body and the external axis or in between the internal axis and the external axis and installs one side of the sealing medium penetrating line on the seal unit by penetrating at a certain interval in the direction of the diameter of the axis to effectively install the sealing medium penetrating line as a lubricating space of the axis. Therefore, the assembly and driving of the system can be smoothly performed, and the lubricant can be rapidly and efficiently supplied.
