In a semiconductor recording device, during page writing, similar write times are required in both cases when the number of bits for performing '0' writing is low, and cases when the number of bits for performing '0' writing is high. A population counter for counting the number of '0' bits is provided. Furthermore, a write driver is divided into a plurality of sub-write drivers.
