In cases where this glass substrate is used as a glass substrate for a solar cell, the conversion efficiency of the solar cell is improved by increasing the diffusion amount of Na atoms and the diffusion amount of K atoms from the glass substrate to a photoelectric conversion layer, and also the weather resistance of the glass substrate is improved. Disclosed is a glass substrate wherein: on a first surface of the glass substrate, the surface K ratio/surface Na ratio is from 1.10 to 2.50; on a second surface opposing the first surface of the glass substrate, the surface Na ratio is from 0.50 to 0.90 and the surface K ratio is from 1.10 to 2.80; the surface Na ratio on the first surface of the glass substrate with respect to the surface Na ratio on the second surface of the glass substrate is from 1.10 to 2.00; the surface K ratio on the first surface of the glass substrate with respect to the surface K ratio on the second surface of the glass substrate is from 0.40 to 0.95; and the surface K ratio and the surface Na ratio are, respectively, the ratio of the amount of K and the amount of Na (at.%) at a depth of 30 nm from the glass substrate surface with respect to the amount of K and the amount of Na (at.%) at a depth of 5000 nm from the glass substrate surface. |
