A process for preparing a dialkyl phosphinate, comprising the following steps: recovering a mother solution produced during the preparation of the dialkyl phosphinate; mixing the mother solution, a and b to generate a target precipitate, wherein a is a solid or liquid containing a dialkyl phosphinic acid and/or an alkali metal salt thereof, and b is a solid or liquid containing a metal ion compound; separating the target precipitate, washing the separated target precipitate and drying to obtain the dialkyl phosphinate.
