PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a copolymer which has a high viscosity-developing property and has viscosity characteristics such that the viscosity decreases with increase in rate of shear, and especially to provide a copolymer which develops viscosity in a water-based coating containing a surfactant and has viscosity characteristics such that the viscosity decreases with increase in rate of shear.SOLUTION: Provided is a copolymer obtained by polymerizing a monomer component (m) comprising (m-1) a macromonomer, which has a basic skeleton comprising a polymer chain having a number average molecular weight in a range of 1,000 to 10,000 obtained by polymerizing a monomer component (I) comprising 5 to 100 mass% of a polymerizable unsaturated monomer (a) having an alkyl group of 4 to 24 carbon atoms, and (m-2) a polymerizable unsaturated monomer having a hydrophilic group.SELECTED DRAWING: None |
