PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device provided with a holding capacitor electrically connected to a pixel TFT.SOLUTION: A holding capacitor connected to a pixel TFT is formed of a light shielding film, a third interlayer insulating film and a pixel electrode. As the pixel electrode, a transparent conductive film may be used if a transmissive liquid crystal display device is desired, and a metal film may be used if a reflective liquid crystal display device is desired. The light shielding film contains one or a plurality of elements selected from Al, Ti, and Ta as a main component.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
