Provided is a photoacoustic reagent and reagent group for use in high-sensitivity and high-selectivity imaging in a biovisualization device utilizing photoacoustic effects. The present invention is a photoacoustic reagent and reagent group that foams when exposed to light and produces an acoustic signal, and has microparticle structures in which light-absorbing phases (2, 5) comprising a light-absorbing agent that absorbs light from optical irradiation at a prescribed wavelength, and foaming phases (1, 4) that shift from a liquid phase or a solid phase to a gaseous phase through absorbed energy, are stabilized by stabilizing agents (3, 6). The microparticle structures have an average particle diameter of 0.1-10 µm, the optical absorption coefficient per one microparticle structure is substantially equal, and the volume ratios of the foaming phases (1, 4) and the light-absorbing phases (2, 5) differ. |
