A target compression ratio by a variable compression ratio mechanism (2) is decreased to a minimum compression ratio when some level of an evaporated fuel component is accumulated within a canister (42) of an evaporated fuel processing device (40). In this state, the purge is performed. A thermal efficiency is decreased by the decrease of the compression ratio. An intake air quantity and a fuel amount which are necessary for a desired torque are increased. With this, even when the purge amount is the same, the influence on the air fuel ratio feedback correction coefficient becomes relatively small. Accordingly, the purge possible amount is increased. For example, in a region in which the air fuel ratio feedback correction coefficient is larger than a lower limit value and the fuel injection pulse width is larger than a minimum value, when an opening degree of the purge control valve is set to the maximum. In this present invention, it is possible to perform the much purge without causing the destabilization of the air fuel ratio control, and so on. |
