The printing machine (102) has a cover (101) which is configured, so that it separates the printing machine from the surrounding space (160) such that a controlled atmosphere is produced in the space (170) within the cover. A supply pipe unit (103) is provided to guide a container (120) in the space inside the cover. A diversion unit (104) is provided to forward the container from the space. A ventilation system (107) is provided to generate an excess pressure opposite to the outer pressure within the cover with a main stream. An independent claim is included for a direct printing method for printing the container by using a printing machine.
