Method for charging a storage element of a standalone system

The method involves determining necessary energy to charge a storage element e.g. lithium-ion battery, and calculating theoretical average power based on the necessary energy and sunshine duration during which energy resource is available to a photovoltaic type generator, so as to deliver the necessary energy to the element for charging completely. Maximum energy is estimated from acceptable maximum power by the generator. Charge setting power is determined based on comparison between the necessary energy and the maximum energy and comparison between the average power and the maximum power.
