PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To extract a contour of an image of low contrast, without any influence of noise.SOLUTION: An image processing apparatus for determining a contour from an image formed by capturing an object 41 includes: a pixel data storage section 12A for storing pixel data of an image; a luminance acquisition section 12B for acquiring luminance of one pixel of the image and luminance of the other pixel of the image, from the pixel data of the image stored in the pixel data storage section; a pixel distance acquisition section 12C for acquiring a distance between the one pixel and the other pixel of the image, from the pixel data of the image stored in the pixel data storage section; a coefficient storage section 12D for storing a coefficient based on the pixel distance; a sum calculation section 12E which calculates a sum of values obtained by multiplying a difference between the luminance of the one pixel and the luminance of the other pixel of the image by the coefficient based on the pixel distance, as a calculated value of the one pixel of the image; a threshold comparison section 12F for comparing the calculated pixel value with a threshold; and a contour determination section 12G which determines a contour from the image, on the basis of a result of the threshold comparison section.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
