Disclosed are a tethering method of a terminal and an apparatus therefor. According to the present invention, the tethering method performed by a first terminal operating in a mobile access point comprises the following steps of: monitoring transmission of data frames between the first terminal and an end terminal that accessed the first terminal; generating a low-power period frame which contains period information operated in a low power mode based on the monitoring results; transmitting the low-power period frame to the end terminal when the end terminal is in an active mode; and operating in the low power mode during the period indicated by the period information. According to the present invention, the power consumption due to the tethering function of a terminal serving as a mobile access point can be reduced.
