PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently determine an illumination direction of an illumination device when automatically determining the illumination direction of the illumination device by use of a self-timer function, and performing a bounce light emission picture-taking.SOLUTION: An illumination device has: a light emission unit; a movable unit that includes the light emission unit, and is rotatably held to a main body part; acquisition means that acquires first distance information pertain to a distance to an object in a picture-taking direction of a loaded imaging device and second distance information pertain to a distance in a direction different from the picture-taking direction; determination means that determines an illumination direction of the light emission unit on the basis of the first distance information and second distance information acquired by the acquisition means; and control means that controls a position of the movable unit in such a way that the illumination direction of the light emission unit is the illumination direction determined by the determination means. When the loaded imaging device is set at a self-timer mode, the acquisition means is configured to acquire the first distance information after a prescribed time has elapsed since the second distance information is acquired.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3 |
