PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for easily manufacturing a polarizing glass plate in which a shift of a polarization axis is small.SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing a polarizing glass plate in which extension metal particles are oriented and dispersed in a glass matrix, includes: an extension molding step of extension molding a glass preform plate that has a predetermined width of Wand contains metal halide particles while heating the glass preform plate to obtain a glass member in which extension metal halide particles are oriented and dispersed in the glass matrix; and a reducing step of subjecting the glass member to a reduction treatment to reduce the extension metal halide particles, thereby obtaining the polarization glass plate.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
