PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which properly detects lifetime of an image carrier included in a plurality of image forming units.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes a first image forming unit which forms a first developer image, and a second image forming unit which forms a second developer image. A position detection part 75 detects whether the first image forming unit is arranged in a transfer position where the first developer image can be transferred to a transfer medium. A counter part 73 generates a count value indicating consumption of the second image forming unit. A lifetime detection unit 74 detects lifetime of the second image forming unit on the basis of the count value. The counter part 73 corrects the count value, when it is detected that the first image forming unit is arranged in the transfer position. |
