摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wheel bearing device with a long service life of a bearing achieved by preventing the bearing from generating an extreme edge load even if a rolling element that protrudes from an outer rolling surface and rolls while suppressing overheating at a shoulder of the outer rolling surface and preventing the roughening of crystals when heat treatment is applied to an outer member. <P>SOLUTION: The cylindrical shoulder 10 is formed between a plurality of rows of the outer rolling surfaces 2a, 2a in the outer member 2, a cut-out section 11 is formed in a tapered surface from a terminal end 13 to the shoulder 10 of the outer rolling surface 2a on which the rolling element 3 rolls, and a corner of the terminal end 13 of the outer rolling surface 2a and an edge 11a of the cut-out section 11 is formed in an arcuate shape having predetermined curvature radiuses R1, R2. The curvature radius R1 of the terminal end 13 is set to be larger than the curvature radius R2 of the edge 11a of the cut-out section 11 (R1>R2), and after a plurality of rows of the outer rolling surfaces 2a are lathe-machined, a predetermined hardened layer is formed by induction quenching. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT
